Our Highest Calling

Seek Me that you may live. Seek the Lord that you may live…Seek good and not evil, that you may live…”

Amos 5:4b, 6a, 14a

Our highest calling in this life is to seek God and to enjoy His presence. This is at the core of worship. “To seek” is an attempt or desire to find something or someone. When we desire to know God more than anything else in this life, we are living according to our highest calling.

So instead of talking about seeking God, let’s use today to spend time alone with God in quiet prayer and meditation on His Word, effectively living out what it truly means to seek God. Below are some passages of scripture in order to assist you in your efforts in seeking Him.

But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

                                                                                                               Matthew 6:33

“I love those who love me; and those who diligently seek me will find me.”

                                                                                                     Proverbs 8:17

Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His face continually.

                                                                           1 Chronicles 16:11

But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul.

                                                                                                            Deuteronomy 4:29

And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

                                                                                                                 Hebrews 11:6

You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

                                                                                                       Jeremiah 29:13

O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

                                                                                                            Psalm 63:1

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

                                                                                                                 Matthew 7:7-8

And those who know Your name will put their trust in You, for You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.

                                                                                                            Psalm 9:10

As you connect with God through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, enjoying the presence of the Spirit within you, continue to walk each day in the power that His presence brings!
