For this reason we must pay much close attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it. For if the word spoken through angels proved unalterable, and every transgression and disobedience received a just penalty, how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?
Hebrews 2:1-3
Why is it that so many people seem to neglect the issue of salvation? Perhaps they want to live life on their own terms. Maybe it is because they have been taught the faulty concept that if someone is a “good” person that they will go to heaven. Maybe it is simply that they do not believe. Whatever the reason, the Bible could not be any clearer as to why we need to be saved and how that process takes place. Consider the following:
- Everyone has sinned and fallen short of what God intended for mankind…
…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…
Romans 3:23
But…
God has offered justification as a gift by His grace…
…being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus…
Romans 3:24
- Everyone has strayed from God and gone their own way…
All of us like sheep have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way…
Isaiah 53:6a
But…
Jesus bore the penalty for our sin…
But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on Him.
Isaiah 53:6b
- Everyone is guilty of breaking all of God’s Law…
For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all.
James 2:10
But…
The debt that we owed God for our disobedience was nailed to the cross and has been taken out of the way…
When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
Colossians 2:13-14
- Everyone has inherited a sin nature that brings condemnation…
So then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men…
Romans 5:18a
But…
God offers justification of life to all who will believe…
…even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men.
Romans 5:18b
We are all sinners. We are all equally in need of salvation. And God offers salvation to everyone who will place his/her trust in what Jesus Christ has accomplished on the cross. Why not trust Him and give Him your life today?
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
John 3:16-18
