With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints…

As we wind down our study of the armor of God, let’s consider Paul’s admonition to continue in prayer. And in order to appreciate this privilege of prayer, let’s reflect on what scripture says about this amazing benefit that we have as believers in Jesus Christ.

Ask And It Will Be Given

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 

                                                                                                               Matthew 7:7-8 

God Will Give What Is Good To Those Who Ask 

 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!

                                                                                                                     Matthew 7:11 

God Knows What We Need Even Before We Ask 

And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words. So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.

Prayer Must Be United With Faith 

Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.

God Is Abounding In Riches For All Who Call On Him 

For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him…

We Must Have Faith That He Will Answer 

I have called upon You, for You will answer me, O God; Incline Your ear to me, hear my speech.

We Should Be Devoted To Prayer 

Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor; not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer, contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality.

                                                                                                                 Romans 12:10-13 

We Should Pray About Everything 

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 

                                                                                                            Philippians 4:6-7 

We Must Pray And Not Doubt 

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. 

                                                                                                                       James 1:5-6 

What a tremendous privilege it is to talk to our Creator and Savior! Let’s not forget that prayer is as essential as the armor when going into spiritual battle. So let us be a people who call on the name of the Lord!
