Even when we face those times in our lives when it just feels like we are crawling along in our walk with Christ, we should remember that those are the times in which God often does His greatest work. For Paul, it was being placed in a Roman jail. Add to that, his imprisonment was unjust. Paul was being held for the sole reason of being a follower of Jesus. But even incarceration did not stop Paul from seeing the work of the Spirit in his life. Although he was unable to move about and encourage the churches in person, he was still able to pen a brief yet powerful letter. This is the letter of Philippians.
We will spend the next four weeks examining this letter. It contains some of the most encouraging passages that still support Christian faith and growth today. As we examine each passage, take some time to meditate on the truths found there. As we allow God to speak to us through the words of Paul, I believe that we will find new spiritual strength to face those times when we feel tired and defeated. Our study begins Monday, November 5. I hope you will join us as we invest some time in the examination of this remarkable letter!
