We will be spending the next few weeks examining the Beatitudes. These are eight declarations of blessing given by Jesus at the beginning of the Sermon on the Mount. They can be found in Matthew 5:3-12.
Beginning with those who are poor in spirit and ending with the persecuted for Christ, each statement describes a spiritual condition followed by a tangible reality. Those who belong to Christ should exemplify these eight qualities namely because they are recognized by God as worthy of blessing.
Here is an effective way of remembering what the Beatitudes are about but I must warn you, it is a little cheesy. We can think of them as eight characteristics that represent what should “Be” our “Attitudes.” I warned you.
I encourage you to join us as we pitch our spiritual tents and camp out awhile in this very important portion of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. I look forward to seeing you here!
